Justine Arian

Justine, can you tell us about your work?

I live in Huntington Beach, CA and I own The Pregnancy Coach and The Mama Coach.  I help women become empowered through their birth experiences, as mamas and in life. I created a process called Pregnancy Coaching which is designed to help a woman explore her options and consciously choose her own path to motherhood beginning with pregnancy. I am a professionally trained Life Coach, Certified Birth Doula and an Independent Childbirth Educator, formerly a Bradley teacher. I empower and inspire women as I work with them one on one, in couples and in groups.

Why did you become a Personal Renewal Group (PRG) Facilitator?

I became a PRG Facilitator because it was a natural next step for me both personally and professionally. After the birth of my second child I was faced with a new set of challenges being a mother of two, working and running a business. Balance and self-care definitely became high priority and a necessity. The opportunity to facilitate Personal Renewal Groups came at a perfect time in my life. I love that I can relate to what the other mamas are experiencing in the groups and can provide a platform for them to get the support and inspiration they need to create positive changes in their lives.

How has the PRG work changed or affected you?

The work has touched me in so many ways. I have learned to be kinder, gentler and more compassionate with myself as a result of working with the mamas in my groups. They are my greatest teachers and inspiration for change. I have learned that self-care means so much more than just the basics, although the basics are a good place to start. My definition of self-care has expanded tremendously to include all four areas of self renewal: emotional, spiritual, mental and physical. Now when I check in with my self-care needs it feels so much more inclusive. Ultimately I am a better mother, partner, friend and coach as a result of my involvement in the Personal Renewal Group program.

What are your favorite self-care activities?

My favorite self-care activities include getting a massage every two weeks, doing yoga in the park weekly and taking classes and/or workshops related to personal growth. I'm working on journaling more, eating better and meditating more often as well.
