Past communications interns are now employed at: The Texas Conference for  Women, Shell Oil, GSD&M, Dell, Apple, Whole Foods Market, Retail Me Not, IBM, the United Nations, national nonprofit organizations and top local and national advertising and public relations agencies.

Fall 2019 internship projects may include: working with an ad agency to launch our new brand and web site; coordinating national and international events, writing/editing newsletters and web content, assisting in national PR/marketing campaigns, research and special projects depending on the intern’s aptitude.


Position Details:

Title:  Women’s Empowerment Communications Assistant (Internship)

Internship dates: Fall: training in late August – work through the end of Dec.  (preference given to candidates who can continue through the spring)

Internship details
: Min. 15 hours/week (ideally 20).  Some hours you’ll work virtually from home; ideally coming in to the office on T/Th afternoons, but can be flexible. This internship is not for school credit due to the hours.

Office location: South Austin, near Central Market Westgate; communications team is national and located around the U.S. Some events are in TX.

Intern reports to:
Renee Peterson Trudeau, owner and president; and other RTA marketing staff based on projects.

Pay/benefits: Main compensation is career and networking support for prof. development, job search, resume, interview, salary negotiation, contact/referral support and career strategy coaching through Career Strategists and Renee Trudeau & Assoc. (valued at $5,000+). Professional development paid for. We have connected all of our interns with job opportunities. Particularly a great way to meet and network with AWC, PRSA, AMA and IABC professionals. Opportunity for an end-of-internship bonus depending on performance.

Hours: Min. 15 hours/week. Car and laptop required; we have a computer you can use if needed.

Title: Women’s Empowerment Communications Assistant (Intern) is part of a local/national team.

Overview: Rare opportunity for a mature, bright, professional, energetic PR/communications student to work on international women’s empowerment programs and to gain incredible high-level, hands-on experience in a variety of marketing/PR/communications arenas. The communications assistant (intern) will be working for Renee Trudeau, a nationally-recognized entrepreneur/coach/speaker/author and president of Renee Trudeau & Associates, a global coaching/consulting firm www.ReneeTrudeau.com. Clients include Fortune 500 companies, national women’s conferences, national retreat centers, national nonprofits and public policy centers and national non-profit organizations. Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities are being our social media manager (we train), executing marketing campaigns, writing/editing, publishing, community relations and event coordination.  Other communications duties as assigned and based on ability. Training will be provided.

Trudeau, the firm’s owner, was a nominee for the national Assoc. for Women In Communications Headliner Award. She was also a finalist in the Austin Business Journal’s Profiles in Power Awards, was a regular Austin Woman life balance columnist and was awarded the Mentor Award from the Association for Women In Communications. She is on the advisory board for Women in Communications, Austin, and is a past PRSA board member. Requirements/qualifications: Self-motivated, mature, organized, positive-minded, detail-oriented Junior or Senior pursuing a degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing or Communications, or a professional transitioning into the communications field. Seeking a candidate who is interested in women’s empowerment, who is responsible and professional and is able to take initiative and work independently. Intern will have a strong desire to learn and have good computer/tech skills. Prior office OR internship experience desired. This internship will provide the student with a wide scope of experience in every facet of marketing/PR.
