Tell us about yourself:

I live in Windham, NH with my husband and 3 kids ages 6 to 19. I attended nursing school at Lawrence Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. I have been working as a nurse for 14 years with a specialty in critical care for the past 10 years. I love working with people at all stages of life. Being a nurse has given me opportunities to see people at both their best and most difficult stages in life.

Why did you become a RTA-Certified Facilitator?

In October of 2013, I attended Renee’s New Way of Being Retreat at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. My life was crazy busy between family and work and I needed time away to recharge my batteries. My weekend away not only renewed me but opened my eyes to the world of self care, a concept that was totally foreign to me. I had made a life out of caring for others. While at the retreat I felt a calling and knew deep inside me that becoming a RTA Facilitator was something that I would do.

Being part of a Personal Renewal Group (PRG) has been an incredible experience on so many levels. Having the support and encouragement of other women has been amazing. One of my favorite parts of being in a PRG is seeing the “stress release” that occurs over the short time we’re together. After two hours of just being real with each other, not trying to “fix” one another and just letting it out and being there—you can see a visible transformation take place with the women. Everyone always seems to get what they need from our PRG. My wish is that every woman can come to know and experience the safe, supportive, encouraging, judgment free space that is created in a PRG.

What are your favorite self-care activities?

It has taken some time to figure out what fills my cup, but I’m slowly learning that there are many things that I enjoy doing. I love spending time outdoors and going for walks on the rail trail near my home. Gardening and driving in my jeep with the top down and the music up bring lots of joy! It is great to spend time with my girlfriends over a cup of coffee or an easy walk. I am passionate about just sitting my butt on the beach and breathing in the fresh air. I enjoy writing and absolutely love a good book. I take a therapeutic yoga class once a week that is incredible. Date nights with my husband have become a must, even if it’s only once a month.
