Tell us about yourself?
I am a wife, a mom of two young children (7 and 4) and a singer/songwriter. I grew up in Austin, TX and have lived here a total of 22 years.
Why did you become a Personal Renewal Group (PRG) Facilitator?
When I read The Mother’s Guide to Self-Renewal, I felt a very strong calling to become a group facilitator. I have put together groups of women for years and it felt very natural for me to share the self-care message and work with other moms.
How has the PRG work changed or affected you?
I love facilitating Personal Renewal Groups. My groups meet once a month for a year and it amazes me how two little hours per month can make such a difference. Moms are amazing and resilient. They’re efficient and savvy and when they create the space to plant the seeds for self-care, magic happens. I love sticking with the same group over the course of twelve months. We really get a chance to get to know each other and watch transformations unfold together over time.
Personally, facilitating the groups has helped me to further build and polish my self-care toolbox, specifically, around setting limits on my time and energy and maintaining a commitment to happiness. I follow the Personal Renewal Group program and the “Mother’s Guide,” but I also like to integrate concepts from other places, like the work I’ve done with parenting coach Carrie Contey, Ph.D. I always love our group discussions. So often, moms often don’t take time or have a place to step back and brainstorm about how stress affects them and their behavior and think about choices and resources that can optimize our sense of well-being.
What are your favorite self-care activities?
Definitely music is at the top of my list. Each month I get to do a happy hour show at a local venue in Austin—it really feeds me. I also really enjoy spending time alone. And, exercising–especially swimming, yoga, and dancing at my Daring Diva Workout.

P.S. We just had to share a bit of Tricia’s music—she is so talented! You can visit http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/triciam to hear some samples. One of Renee’s favorites is Bobby Joe Plays the Violin.
