Roanoke, VA
Tell us about yourself:
I live in Roanoke, VA with my husband of 17 years and my three beautiful children ages 6, 7 and 13. I am a career coach and president of Career Solutions and also consult with my local community college. I get the best of both worlds. I am fortunate to be able to work with teens and women and have been working with women’s issues for more than 10 years.
Why did you become a Personal Renewal Group (PRG)Facilitator?
I became a Personal Renewal Group (PRG) Facilitator because the message of self-care, personal power, and life-balance resonate with the teachings I have been sharing with women for many years. Renee’s Personal Renewal Program which integrates the message of self-care and reflection, packs a powerful punch. I believe in the power of self-care and I want to be a part of this world-wide movement to promote self-compassion and self-renewal. Women face many issues that are caused by not taking time for themselves, stress, time management, anger, resentfulness and unhealthy relationships. As a group facilitator I have the awesome privilege of helping mothers find a sense of inner peace, which in turn restores peace to their families.
How has the PRG work changed or affected you?
For many years, I have been an advocate for “putting on your oxygen mask first before helping others.” Becoming a PRG Facilitator offers structure to my life and the program provides many strategies and avenues of support for maintaining a self-care practice. Participating in a PRG group also affirms that I deserve to be taken care of, I deserve to focus on my needs and it offers a sense of hope to others as I share these messages through the Personal Renewal Group Program. Being a trained PRG Facilitator inspires me to model self-care for my family and others. Committing to this work has provided me with a renewed sense of awareness, centeredness and focus.
What are your favorite self-care activities?
I love to write in my journal, enjoy a monthly girls’ night out, practice daily prayer and meditation, read, watch girly movies and attend a weekly Zumba classes– I love to dance!
