Tell us about yourself:
I live in Washington DC, and I am a parent coach. Before I became Meghan Leahy Parent Coach, I was a school counselor and a teacher. I still currently work with PEP (Parent Encouragement Program), in Kensington MD as a parent educator and I am excited to start leading Personal Renewal Groups for Mothers! In addition to one-on-one coaching, I am a speaker (schools and groups), and write for my blog, as well as Discovery.com. I have been married for 11 years to my husband, Mark, and have three little girls–Sophia – 8, Louise – 5, and Gigi – 2.

Why did you become a Personal Renewal Group (PRG)Facilitator?
I participated in a PRG in my area and met some women I loved. Great people, heartfelt sharing, real connections. When my friend approached me about becoming a PRGFacilitator, I was excited at the prospect of working with moms (especially those who have young kids). The motherhood work is so all-consuming. I am looking forward to helping the women reconnect with themselves.

How has the PRG work changed or affected you?
It helped me realize that, in fact, I am doing a really good job in my life. Yes, some things fall between the cracks, but that’s OK. I am generally happy, healthy, as is my family. I went in to the group thinking I was a hot mess, but came out realizing, “No, I am okay.” That is pretty awesome!

What are your favorite self-care activities?
Far and away, I love seeing friends. Something as simple as meeting a friend very early on a Sunday morning at the gym for a workout and then a coffee, that makes me happy for the rest of the day. Exercise, especially yoga, is critical to my life. I love, LOVE, music. Seeing live music and listening to music is great. I love a glass of wine and enjoying old Sex and The City reruns. With chocolate. I love a good Anne Lamott book and enjoy Richard Russo, Jennifer Weiner, Karen Maezen Miller, and David Sedaris writings. I love going to NYC to visit with friends, preferably with my husband. And anything funny, I love. Laughter is everything to me. An interesting fact? I just completed a Stand-Up Comedy Class and did my graduation show at The Improv in DC!

How to contact you to sign up for a PRG?
I’d love to welcome new members to my groups and I can be reached at info@positivelyparenting.comwww.positivelyparenting.com
