Dear Friend,
I agree. One of the ways I respond to feeling speeded up is to pause, pull back, get clear on what matters most and schedule time for deep, soulful nourishment. For me this usually looks like spending time in nature. This week I’m taking a full moon hike with friends on the greenbelt and next week my family and I are heading to one of the quietest, darkest places in the U.S.: Big Bend National Park.Everywhere I speak and travel these days I hear a reoccurring theme: things are moving too fast! (Read Slow Down You Move too Fast.)
Another way to slow down and return to your natural state of harmony and well-being is to take a guided or personal retreat (read more on Why Retreats?). Whether it’s a one day retreat at a friend’s lake house, an overnight away by yourself at a country home, or a guided retreat at a special venue designed just for reflection and rejuvenation, retreats can change your life by challenging how you see things. And, by creating stillness and space for you to hear what you most need to hear.
Some of the most well-known (and my favorite) U.S. retreat centers are Esalen in Big Sur, CA; Kripalu Yoga & Wellness Center in the Berkshire mountains of MA; Omega Institute in upstate New York and I’m looking forward to visiting Feathered Pipe Ranch in Montana in August. (I’ll be facilitating self-care retreats for women at Esalen and Kripalu this spring.)
Many of my biggest shifts in perspective have come as a result of being on a guided retreat. If one of these opportunities calls to you, I hope you’ll join me. Take good care—Renee and the RTA Team
