(Video) What Does Self-Care Mean to Me?
I was visiting with a girlfriend yesterday and we were sharing how the current times feel like the period following a bad car accident. The accident (COVID) happens and you’re in shock. For a while you may think, “Everything is fine.” Then the physical, emotional and financial aftermath arrives-often in slow waves-and you realize you were hit harder than you thought. And now, you have to deal with all the fallout.
How are you faring at work, at home and in your key relationships right now? Maybe you’re feeling a bit wobbly (read more)? We’re all navigating uncertainty, but more than ever, we can support ourselves by putting self-care front and center and tuning in daily to what we most need. Here’s the question I’m sitting with this week:
Self-care is not about adding something to our to-do list, fixing or becoming a better version of ourselves or doing something because we’re told we should. It’s about slowing down and attuning and responding to our needs and desires moment to moment. And if we do this regularly, we find that what we need changes every day! Now more than ever, self-care is essential to helping us find our center and discovering our way in this wild new reality. Let me know how it goes.
