(Video) What is Calling for my Attention?
Pause. Put down your to-do list. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Then ask, “Who or what is calling for my attention right now?”
All of us can succumb to the seduction of productivity. Who doesn’t love to cross things off a long task list?! But at the highest level, are you working on things that really matter? Are you directing your energy, time and talents in a way that will make a true and lasting impact? This week I’m stepping off the hamster wheel to pause frequently, ask these questions and remind myself I’m a human being, not a human doing. I’m not here to just “get stuff done.” I’m here to connect and contribute in deeply meaningful ways.
Want more? Read my post What Is the Best Use of My Energy Right Now? and check out the nine ways to say no list. I’d love to hear how the week goes for you and what you notice around busyness. If you or your friends live in Western North Carolina, join me this Thursday 3/17 from noon-1:00 p.m. at WorkAbout Co-working for a free event celebrating self-employed women!
