(Video) How Can I Be Kinder to Myself?
Lately I have found myself often saying, “It’s a really hard time to be a human.”
When things get this intense (monumental natural disasters, seismic political unrest, widespread economic uncertainty, a pandemic that doesn’t seem to end) on top of all the things we’re navigating in our own worlds– I find the best course of action is to pause, slow down and heap on the self-compassion … and kindness.
This week I’m asking, “How Can I Be Kinder to Myself?” and I invite you to join me. Watch my two minute video:
Want more? Read my blog on Why Kindness Matters (and where to begin). Author Pema Chodron says, “Loving kindness towards ourselves doesn’t mean getting rid of anything. It means we can still be crazy after all these years. We can still be angry after all these years. We can still be timid or jealous or full of feelings of unworthiness. The point is not to try to throw ourselves away and become something better. It’s about befriending who we are already.”
Let me know how your week goes and what you’re doing to be kinder to yourself. You’ll be in my thoughts. And, if you live in NC, join me Friday afternoon, Sept. 24th for Now What? Tools & Practices for Finding Your Way in a Wild New World.
