The Gifts of Discomfort (+ tips for redesigning your life)

Mindfulness, Newsletter
mindfulness

“Life has a way of saying, “Hey, come back over here, reconnect.” The only way that you’ll actually wake up and experience freedom is if you have the capacity and courage to stay with the vulnerability … and the discomfort.”
-Tara Brach

I was recently in Mexico on the Pacific side. The waves were loud and rough. The incessant crashing felt mildly agitating and I found myself turning to homemade tortillas and gluten-free baked treats to ground myself and raise my serotonin (nothing like carb loading to boost our mood!).

How do you respond to discomfort? Most of us understandably turn to our favorite distractions—alcohol, food, our phones, shopping, drugs or Netflix—when we’re feeling uncomfortable and want to run from what we’re feeling. This week, I’m exploring the gifts that come from discomfort and what to do when we experience contrast. Watch a 3 min. video and join me:

Every week I offer up a question or reflection to help us slow down and live from the inside out. This week, I’m exploring the gifts that come from contrast.

Want more? Read What is My Life Trying to Tell Me (+ an exercise for redesigning your life). I’d love to hear how you respond to discomfort. We’ll be exploring this along with how to access more freedom/joy/pleasure, ways to tend to our souls, reconnect with our passion and find deep rest and renewal at our upcoming April 26-28 Awakening Your Wild Soul: Women’s Self-Renewal Retreat at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. Learn more and register. I’d love to support you; consider joining us!
