Holding it Together is Overrated
As the oldest of seven and the product of overachiever parents, I’m known as a hyper-competent woman
“who always has answers and knows where she’s going,” the go-to girl and the person who always seems to have it together.
And, as I move deeper into the second half of my life, I’m questioning how this affects me—what is the price I pay when I choose to step into this persona?
Over the last two decades, I’ve come a long way: I’ve let a lot of perfectionist tendencies drop, I am less controlling and am a big advocate for the “good is good enough” message. But as I get “curiouser and curiouser,” what would it look like for me to be even MORE surrendered? To be less prepared, less polished, more messy and human than I have ever been before? We all deserve a soft place to fall, a place where we can show up “warts and all.” This is the terrain I’m exploring this week. Read/watch my blog (3 min. video) Holding It Together is Overrated:

Every week after my forest-based workout, I offer up a Live Inside Out reflection that helps me slow down and live more intentionally. This week, I blogged about the importance of having a soft place to fall & why holding it together is overrated.
