Three Questions to Help You Put 2025 to Bed!
“We do not see the world as it is, we see the world as we are.” ~ Anonymous
New Year’s Day my partner and I enjoyed a relaxed, pleasureful, nature-based day. We attended a delicious yoga class, had brunch at a Latin restaurant and hiked in a gorgeous forested sculpture garden. While I’m not a big fan of New Year’s resolutions, I am an advocate for living intentionally. “What you focus on grows,” has always been a favorite mantra.
During our meandering hike with our sweet pup Rico, we were called to a sunny spot in the woods. We paused to sit on a giant, moss-covered fallen tree to enjoy a short meditation.

Afterwards, we each gathered three pinecones to symbolize talismans for the following questions and took turns reflecting on and answering:
- What was something hard you navigated in 2025 and what realization or awareness came from this?
- What is one thing you’re celebrating from 2025 that brought you joy and delight?
- What is one thing you learned about yourself in 2025 that you want to weave into 2026? (In other words, what “lesson learned” do you want to animate and live into this year?)
After each share, we released a pinecone back to the forest floor with a mighty toss.

Tomorrow, Jan. 7th, I’ll turn 60. The oldest of seven children, I will officially cross the threshold of outliving both of my parents. Whew! I’m excited, thoughtful and slightly freaked out (I feel like I’m 30!). I can sense many new ways of being stirring within me and I am entering this new era with curiosity, self-compassion and a newfound understanding. I’ll keep you posted on how this journey into the “wisdom years” is going and if you’re in your 60’s, please write. I’d love to hear how this decade is landing with you.
Warmly,
