(Video) How Do You Come Home to Yourself?
My life has been topsy turvy for the last two weeks. My husband, son and I are going through many new, exciting work and living transitions but the chaos, tumult, stress and uncertainty have been unsettling to say the least. Based on my upbringing, I find moving to be one of the most stressful things ever.
Bessel A. van der Kolk, author of the wonderful book The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma, says, “In order to change, people need to become aware of their sensations and the way that their bodies interact with the world around them. Physical self-awareness is the first step in releasing the tyranny of the past.”
Yes! My body has been talking to me (disrupted sleep, holding my breath, intermittent bouts of anxiety) and this morning I’m listening. It’s time to come home to myself and make self-care my top priority.
Check out my two-minute Live Inside Out video question below and consider what your body may be telling you.
